On Friday, April 17th in commemoration of Palestinian Prisoners’ Day, Samidoun Palestinian Prisoner Solidarity Network hosted a volleyball tournament in the Gaza strip with liberated prisoners and local youth.
Al-Ahrar Palestinian Prisoner Support salutes Samidoun and their efforts of building material solidarity with Palestinian prisoners and their movement, particularly in the face of global imperialist repression against their organization.
Samidoun is designated as a so-called “terrorist” organization not only in Canada, but also in the Zionist entity, too. In Gaza, though, we see Palestinians continue to organize and uplift the political project of Samidoun and defy repression against the prisoners’ movement through their actions.
In Canada, there has not been the same brave embrace. Those of us in Canada (and in other imperialist states where Samidoun is designated, i.e. the U.S. and Germany ), must follow the path of steadfastness and resilience that Palestinians in Gaza take. We must choose to reject so-called “terrorist” designations and continue the path of struggle.
Al-Ahrar calls on Palestinians, Arabs, and internationalists across so-called Canada to follow those in Gaza who pursue liberation in a dignified way that does not condemn their comrades to criminalization. We must never do the imperialists’ work of isolating and further repressing revolutionary organizations after they are designated.
Just as we champion Hamas, the PFLP, PIJ, Hezbollah, the IRGC, and other revolutionary groups defending West Asia from imperialist aggression, we must also champion Samidoun for defending the Palestinian prisoners’ movement.
